Globo was actively involved in the Latin American TV market. Raphael Corrêa Netto, Globo’s Executive Director of International Business, joined the discussion and highlighted the coproduction and partnership strategy of the international version of Supermax.
The television industry is in continuous search for innovative formats, genres, viewing models, and content production. In this scenario, new consumption habits and increasing offers drive the market, where original content can generate new opportunities and business strategies. To discuss the topic with important industry players, Raphael Corrêa Netto, Globo’s Executive Director of International Business, participated in the panel “Content Twists in Latin America”, which was moderated by journalist Nicolás Smirnoff.
During the conversation, Raphael highlighted Globo’s constant drive to rethink how it creates and produces content and storytelling. The director also emphasised the production of Supermax, series that marks the company’s entry into the production of original content developed exclusively to the international market. The strategy plan is part of Globo’s movement which, according to him, is aligned with the company’s constant search for an increasingly strategic and diversified global performance. According to the executive, the creative and cooperative environment among the main players in Latin America have enabled the production of the series and have proven the viability and the need for new forms of partnerships.
Raphael’s assessment is that, in this scenario, works not only from Globo but also from many content producers in the world, have high capacity for expansion and adaptation, being excellent propellers of a movement, especially in Latin America, to renew content offer in format and genre. The director also pointed out the importance of innovations in narrative and aesthetic structures for the evolution of what is offered to the public. The example came from Above Justice. series that is part of Globo’s 2017 licensing catalogue, release during this edition of Natpe, which presents a totally unprecedented narrative: the way the story is divided by each character by day of the week. Thus, the work, offered in 4K, also gives its programmers different exhibition possibilities.
