Paris – Boutique financier and distributor About Premium Content (APC), a Nevision company, has secured deals in three major territories for its drama series Young and Promising. ARD/ZDF’s new on-demand youth service FUNK – which has launched this month – has picked up the rights to the 12 x 30’ series through a deal secured with APC’s German buyer Studio Hamburg Distribution and Marketing GMBH (SHDM). This key acquisition will be a flagship title for the launch this autumn of the new service and the deal also includes a free-to- air broadcast on ARD’s channel ONE.
In the UK, Channel 4’s Walter Presents has also secured the rights to Young and Promising. Walter Presents is the new VOD service from the UK’s Channel 4 and Global Series Network and is part of its All 4 OTT platform. Curated by Walter Iuzzolino, Walter Presents specialises in selecting high-quality foreign-language drama and comedy. In France, CANAL+ has secured the rights to the series for its owned and operated SVOD platform CANALPLAY.
Commissioned by NRK in Norway and filmed in Norwegian, Young and Promising is produced by Monster AS and directed by Eirik Svensson and Bård Fjulsrud. APC has worldwide rights to the returning series which is filmed in HD. Laurent Boissel, Joint CEO and Co-Founder at APC say: “VOD platforms and broadcasters all over the world continue to look for quality drama targeted at the millennial. With its strong female leads and a tone that resonates with our time, Young and Promising will appeal to this very coveted audience. It is exciting for us as a company involved in international productions that dramas filmed in non-English language are now starting to find their home on a global stage.” Curator of Walter Presents, Walter Iuzzolino adds: “Young and Promising is everything you wouldn’t expect from a Scandi show: it combines the warmth and anarchic humour of Girls with the originality and emotional honest of the very best Nordic fare.”
