Singapore – Scarlet Heart premiered the same-time-as-Korea in August and since then has consistently won the 9pm timeslot each Monday and Tuesday evening, doubling the timeslot ratings and dominating with a 73 per cent share among the four Korean GE channels. Sony ONE was rated the top international pay-TV channel in Singapore and Malaysia collectively during the premiere airing of the first nine episodes of Scarlet Heart.
Virginia Lim, Senior Vice President and Head of Content, Production & Marketing, Sony Pictures Television Networks, Asia said, “ONE created history last month with Scarlet Heart being the first Korean drama to ever premiere at the same-time-as-Korea. The series’ performance to date is a testament to the demand for Korean entertainment that has exceptionally high production value, compelling stories and multi-dimensional characters. The series has created such a buzz that ONE’s ratings grew by more than 20 per cent after the premiere of Scarlet Heart.
Helmed by a star-studded cast, the series builds on the same premise as the original Chinese series but is based on the Korean Goryeo dynasty instead of the Chinese Qing dynasty. The South Korean remake is led by director Kim Kyu Tae, whose past works include acclaimed series such as That Winter, The Wind Blows. Scarlet Heart is a fully pre-produced 20-episode series.
