all3media International’s hit format Gogglebox continues to showcase in new territories as Japan’s NHK commission a local version of the series.
NHK in Japan aired a pilot of Studio Lambert format Gogglebox at the end of March which is a first for the channel in this genre that puts cameras in people’s homes – with a unique production technique. NHK placed it on its main channel as one of the special programmes commemorating the 90th Anniversary of NHK’s first ever broadcast.
These latest deals add to a host of international adaptations for Gogglebox – which presents the highlights of the week’s television intercut with footage of ordinary people watching it at home – including South Korea, the U.S., Australia, Middle East and throughout Europe, with over 30 local productions now in place.
