Montreal– A new international film festival will be launched in Montreal this fall. The inaugural edition of the Canada China International Film Festival (CCIFF) will be held September 16 to 19, 2016 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The theme of the festival will be Weighing Words: Your Story, Our World. Festival events will be held at a variety of locations around downtown Montreal including Concordia University’s Sir George Williams campus.
The festival was created to promote exchanges between filmmakers and foster cooperation and co-production between the artistic communities of Canada and China. The CCIFF also aims to provide a platform for innovation and creation by showcasing the latest in digital and interactive technology.
The honorary president of the Canada China International Film Festival is director Xie Fei, winner of the Silver Bear prize at the 40th Berlin International Film Festival in 1990 for the film Black Snow. The CCIFF jury includes Beverly Shaffer, director of the 1977 Oscar winner I’ll Find a Way; and GaoFeng, vice president of China Central Television (CCTV).
