Los Angeles/London– Raydar Media is heading to MIP JUNIOR with more than 75 new episodes of children’s content, led by ABC Kids’ animated pre-school series Sydney Sailboat (52×11’) and BBC children’s channel CBeebies’ new adventure live-action series Teacup Travels (25×15’).
The deals negotiated by Raydar Media’s Managing Director, Alison Rayson, give the fledgling distributor and co-producer a raft of ratings winning commissioned children’s content to exploit across all rights at one of its first international markets as a stand-alone venture.
Announcing the new commission, Kay Benbow, controller of BBC’s CBeebies says, “This is a first for CBeebies to bring ancient history and archaeology to our young audience. The series combines story telling with high adventure in a way that will inspire and encourage children to want to learn more about life in ancient times.”
Produced by Plum Films, with support from Creative Scotland, the production team includes double Academy Award winning production designer Leslie Dilley (Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark). The series soundtrack was recorded live by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. Teacup Travels immediately secured a prominent position in the CBeebies top ten programmes throughout its first transmission, averaging 490,000 viewers per episode.
Raydar Media will also be presenting the two properties at the upcoming Brand Licensing Europe (BLE) event in London, post MIP Junior.
