Singapore – Singtel TV announced the addition of 18 more channels to its lineup. This includes seven channels from Discovery Networks, available in full HD for the first time in Singapore, and an extensive list of channels that caters to fans of classical and jazz music, British entertainment, and Filipino, Indian and Japanese programming.
“We are constantly looking to improve and expand the entertainment options for our customers,” said Goh Seow Eng, MD, Home, Consumer Singapore, Singtel, “In the past year, we have added almost 50 channels. But it is not just about quantity – we seek to offer a breadth of content so that our diverse audience will always find content that appeals to them.”
Singtel TV plays host to over 190 channels, and offers the largest number of HD channels and on demand movies in Singapore.
Seven Discovery channels, in stunning HD
Singtel TV customers will be the first in Singapore to enjoy seven well-loved channels from Discovery in full HD, with Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, Discovery HD World, Discovery Science, DMAX, Eve and TLC. All Singtel TV customers will enjoy a free preview of the channels until 31 August.

On 16 July, Singtel TV customers can look forward to the premiere of Discovery Channel’s Singapore Stories, comprising five documentaries produced by local filmmakers as part of the channel’s renowned First Time Filmmakers initiative.
The films, which air every Thursday at 9pm, feature a range of charming home-grown stories – from the daily battle with birds on Orchard Road, urban farming, and the art of card flourishing; to a celebration of one of Singapore’s oldest housing estates and the creation of the nation’s first-ever marine park.
Three distinctive lifestyle and entertainment channels
Also joining Singtel TV’s channel lineup is Mezzo Live HD, the premier channel for classical music, opera, ballet and jazz. ITV Choice (HD) likewise makes its Singapore debut on Singtel TV today, with its unique brand of award-winning dramas and top entertainment, comedies fresh from the UK. Both channels are available for free preview till 30 July.
‘Waku waku’ in Japanese describes the feeling of being delighted, and fans of Japanese culture will undoubtedly find WAKUWAKU JAPAN’s line up of programmes very exciting. Viewers can expect the hottest Japanese series, movies, anime, documentaries and more when the channel debuts on 6 July, and can preview the channel for free till 31 August.
Five fresh Indian channels
Also available from 1 July – and on free preview till 30 July – are five new top-rated Indian channels, broadcast in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
Astro Vinmeen HD is Singapore’s first Tamil HD channel featuring Astro’s original productions, blockbuster movies, reality and talk shows, lifestyle programmes, documentaries and classical Carnatic music shows.
Gemini TV is India’s number one Telugu channel, while Gemini Movies is a 24-hour Telugu movie channel featuring a wide range of genres. Malayalam speakers will welcome the new Maveli channel pack containing 24-hour movie channel Kiran TV, and Surya TV which offers general entertainment for the whole family.
Three outstanding Filipino channels
Avid viewers of popular Filipino dramas like ‘Pangako Sa’Yo’ and “Oh My G!’ can now look forward to an enhanced variety of Filipino entertainment.
Three channels especially for the Filipino audience are now available – The Filipino Channel, ABS-CBN Sports + Action, and Lifestyle Network. The Filipino Channel features lifestyle programming from the Philippines, including game shows, sitcoms, and star-studded drama series. Lifestyle Network offers programmes focusing on food, home and living, travel and lifestyle. Featuring the best of Filipino athleticism, ABS-CBN Sports + Action brings to its audience a range of action-packed international sporting events including the National Basketball Association and the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
