Optomen International, the all3media owned distribution arm of Optomen Television, reports a string of sales for Kevin McCloud: Escape To The Wild (4 x 60’), which premiered on Channel 4 UK.
McCloud’s latest Channel 4-commissioned series has been sold to Foxtel and ABC in Australia, SBS Discovery Networks Norway, TV2 in Denmark, Ananey in Israel and Spektrum in Central Europe. Over four episodes, the British designer, writer and television presenter tells the extraordinary stories of ordinary people who have abandoned the rat race to live in some of the most remote places on earth. His mission is to find out whether a simpler life makes people happier: can the romantic dream of living in the wild withstand the harsh challenges of such isolated lifestyles?
Benedicte Steinsrud, head of acquisitions for SBS Discovery Networks Norway, said, “We are very excited to have Kevin McCloud on our channel in a new uniform. After many years of Grand Designs, we are excited to see how our audience reacts to these unique homes all over the world.”
Troels Branth Pedersen, acquisitions executive at TV2 Denmark, added, “Going to the ends of the world, the new Kevin McCloud series looks amazing. We are pleased to have picked it up for our lifestyle channel TV 2 FRI.”
Caroline Stephenson, director of sales for Optomen International, said, “Escape To The Wild will resonate with audiences worldwide, as Kevin gets to the heart of the ultimate contemporary fantasy by posing the question: what does it take to build an idyllic life in a remote part of the world and genuinely make this work for you and your loved ones?”
Escape To The Wild builds on the success of McCloud’s Man Made franchise, the latest incarnation of which — Man Made Home Series 2 (6 x 60’) — has now sold to 73 territories. The eco-friendly building challenge sees McCloud and his trusty Man Friday, Will Trickett, battle the elements, source extraordinary building materials and experiment with off-grid energy sources in their quest to build the perfect beach hut from renewable resources.
