Asian Food Channel has green-lit two new formats, Family Kitchen with Sherson and Cooking for Love. Both original commissions are 6 x 30’ series and will premiere in August and September 2015 respectively.
Family Kitchen with Sherson is a journey into cooking with a traditional Malaysian family, hosted by celebrity cook Sherson Lian and his mother, Ann Lian. The programme will bring together two generations of culinary wisdom, highlighting both cooks’ skills and passion for food.
The Lians will serve up some of their most treasured family recipes and share the stories behind them. Ann will prepare a range of delicious traditional delicacies, while Sherson will add a modern twist to the traditional fare.
The second commission, Cooking for Love, is based on the premise that the way to a person’s heart is through their stomach. Asian Food Channel’s Food Hero 2014 winner, Sarah Benjamin, and television personality and chef, Nik Michael Imran are pitted against each other to create an innovative home cooked menu for special family events.
In each episode, Sarah and Nik are challenged to come up with a show-stopping menu for all occasions from birthday parties to anniversaries. After each meal the family will vote for which chef won their hearts and their stomachs!
CheeK, Head of Creative, Content and Marketing, Scripps Networks Interactive, Asia Pacific said, “We are excited to be able to bring families and friends closer together through their shared love for food with these two new original productions. Both Family Kitchen with Sherson and Cooking for Love tell personal stories that are relatable to our viewers and feature familiar hosts on a channel that our viewers have grown to trust and love when it comes to all things food.”
Family Kitchen with Sherson will be produced by Double Vision in Malaysia while Cooking for Love will be produced by Refinery Media in Singapore for the Asian Food Channel. Both original series are part of an ongoing plan to increase the channel’s original programming slate.
