Strong Hong Kong showing set for Cannes

May 15, 2015 by TVA Editor

Hong Kong filmmakers will showcase their latest cinematic projects at Marché du Film, the world’s largest film market, which opened on 13 May and continues through 22 May in France. Marché du Film is part of the concurrent 68th Festival de Cannes (Cannes Film Festival).

This year, the Hong Kong Pavilion includes four Hong Kong exhibitors organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), namely, All Rights Entertainment Ltd, China 3D Digital Distribution Company Limited, Edko Films Ltd and Fortune Star Media Ltd. At Marché du Film, another 10 Hong Kong companies will showcase their latest productions and seek business and partnership opportunities at individual stands or offices.

Spotlight Hong Kong

“The Hong Kong Pavilion will once again promote Hong Kong’s vibrant and creative film industry to international markets,” said HKTDC Service Promotion Director Jenny Koo, who added that the pavilion will take advantage of growing interest in Asian cinema at Cannes.

The Big Screen

A number of Hong Kong companies will take advantage of the event to screen their latest offerings between 14−18 May. They include Helios, Little Big Master, SPL 2 – A Time For Consequences and The Taking of Tiger Mountain.

Value-Added Services

Part of the Hong Kong Pavilion is set up in the format of a business centre, located at the International Village area of Marché du Film. It offers registered participants from Hong Kong free business facilities and a venue for their business meetings and media interviews.

A “Dim Sum Hour” session will be held at the business centre, starting at around noon on 15 May, offering additional networking opportunities for invited film industry professionals.

Following FILMART

The Hong Kong Pavilion is an excellent opportunity for local industry players to follow up on business leads generated at the HKTDC Hong Kong International Film and TV Market

(FILMART) held in March. FILMART is Asia’s largest film market, which this year set new attendance records, with over 780 exhibitors from 34 countries and regions taking part. The event attracted over 7,100 visitors from 50-plus countries and regions.

Through the pavilion at Cannes, the HKTDC is promoting Hong Kong’s film industry and also next year’s FILMART to be held on 14-17 March 2016 in Hong Kong.
