Cake Boss, the popular docu-series following beloved baker Buddy Valastro, his close-knit family and burgeoning businesses, will return to TLC, Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific’s flagship lifestyle channel. The re-commissioning of Cake Boss and its new production deal was announced in the United States by JB Perrette, President of Discovery Networks International. Through a partnership between Discovery Networks International and TLC in the United States, seasons seven and eight will be produced by original series producer Jon Sechrist, High Noon Entertainment and Valastro’s own Cakehouse Media. Production commences in February, and season seven is slated to premiere in Asia in 3Q15. The series will air internationally on TLC and Discovery Networks International’s lifestyle brands, reaching viewers in more than 220 countries and territories.
“Because of Buddy’s global appeal, it is a recipe for success to have Discovery Networks International partner with TLC in the US to produce additional seasons of Cake Boss,” noted Perrette. “Buddy is a fan favourite… larger than life for our international audiences, and a valued partner of ours.”
“If you know me, you know family is my number one priority so it’s nice to come back home,” said Valastro. “Now it’s time to heat up the ovens, roll the cameras and bring our fans some great storytelling and some amazing food!”
“I’m thrilled to be working with Buddy again. It’s like a family reunion!” said Sechrist. “There’s something inherently more meaningful – the humour, the drama, the emotions – with people you know so well. More than just fondant, it’s also about German Chocolate Cake, Turkish Delight and Italian Cheesecake!”
Cake Boss is produced for Discovery Networks International by High Noon Entertainment and Cakehouse Media. Jon Sechrist is the executive producer for Discovery Networks International, Scott Feeley and Jim Berger are the executive producers for High Noon Entertainment, and Buddy Valastro and Art Edwards are the executive producers for Cakehouse Media.
