Singaporean Prod-Co IFA Media announced a new 2015 coproduction with China Intercontinental Centre (CICC). Crossroads: The Silk Road will be shot in four countries across Asia’s most beautiful landscapes. The Silk Road has linked the East and West from ancient times, playing a pivotal role in the exchange of trade and knowledge. Now, modernisation is breathing new life into the old pathways, placing the Eurasian hinterland on the verge of a transformation.
From the building of new transport highways to the exchange of goods and culture, this new landmark series travels the route to experience the resurgence of the Silk Road today. In five episodes, we delve into stories in China, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Russia to show how the Silk Road is being reinvented for the modern era and how it is changing lives.
This landmark coproduction is the 3rd of CICC and IFA Media collaborations, from The Chinese Hajj for National Geographic, to Rebuilding Sichuan for Discovery Channel Asia (nominated for Best Social Awareness Program at the 2011 Asian TV Awards).
