Singapore – Hot off the back of its UK and Asia debuts, Beach House Pictures’ and Chemical Media’s Nomad Chef got its Australian premiere last Friday, 12 December.
Produced for Discovery Networks International, the food-travel-adventure series sees Scottish-born chef Jock Zonfrillo travelling to some of the world’s most remote communities to harvest ingredients and cook dishes of indigenous tribes.
The 10 x 60’ series has been enjoying exceptional ratings. Before its UK premiere, it garnered the Sunday Times’ Pick of the Day.
In the Philippines, where it aired on TLC, it rated three times above average for its timeslot. For Australia, the series went on air on Discovery Channel and was heavily promoted during its recent Shark Week.
It’s also currently screening in the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. During the six-month shoot, Zonfrillo visited 10 countries and lived with the indigenous communities of Vanuatu, Ethiopia, China, Japan, Philippines, Belize, Peru, Faroe Islands, Spain and Australia.
Nomad Chef was executive produced by Vikram Channa (Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific), Donovan Chan (Beach House Pictures) and Tony Jackson (Chemical Media).
