Millions of Telugu film fans in India and abroad can now rejoice at the chance of catching candid glimpses of their favourite Tollywood stars from the MemuSaitam event on Twitter. The Telegu Film Industry converged at Hyderabad for this mega event, which was aimed at raising relief funds for those affected by Cyclone Hudhud.

Memu Saitam, which means ‘we too’, was a worldwide invitation to participate in the event and contribute funds towards restoring the city of Vizag and its inhabitants to a life of normalcy. The funds thus raised will be handed over to the AP CM Relief Fund.

MemuSaitam used Twitter innovatively by live-Tweeting the event and using the Twitter Mirror to share celebrity selfies live from the event. Twitter Mirror captured selfies of the celebrities who pledged and have supported Memu Saitam, and the celebrities encouraged their fans to also join the movement by Tweeting with the hashtag #MemuSaitam and donating online. Tweets from the event were shared live on Twitter, along with exclusive tweets of the backstage action.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu also showed his support for the event by announcing on Twitter that he will be speaking at the live event.
