Macau – The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union concluded its annual General Assembly with electing Hikaru Doumoto, Executive Vice President of NHK, as their Vice President. Doumoto will serve until the end of December 2017.
President and CEO of Korea’s KBS, Cho Dae Hyun was elected as ABU’s President.
Officially assuming the post today, Doumoto commented, “I wish to fulfill my duty as Vice President, supporting the President, implementing the range of proposals discussed at this meeting so that our broadcasts and services will contribute to the advancement of society.”
The 51st General Assembly and Associated Meeting of ABU were held in Macau. Participating broadcasters held extensive discussions such as how the broadcasters fulfil its role among new media, including social media that are rapidly increasing, and issues related to broadcast rights for sports events.
