More4 has acquired the UK broadcasting rights for Australian period drama, ANZAC Girls, based on real-life experiences in World War I.
Based on the historic letters and diaries of five young women, ANZAC Girls follows the lesser-known true story of Australia and New Zealand in the First World War. Set in 1915, the 6 x 60’ series – acquired from all3media International – will follow the struggles of the fledgling nurses as they were drafted to the Middle East as part of a secret military campaign. Their lives, loves and losses will be recreated as the audience experiences the reality of life in the war fields of Gallipoli and the Western Front in Europe.
