EFC, the Extreme Fighting Championship, which has been trading under EFC AFRICA since inception in 2009, has announced that the organisation is expanding worldwide, and will feature fights with top MMA athletes from across the globe.
Formerly only signing athletes who were born in, or fighting out of Africa, EFC has conquered the continent and created a stable of over 120 of the best MMA athletes competing in the EFC Hexagon in seven weight classes.
The new global line-up will feature in EFC’s upcoming portfolio of event programming, which is distributed internationally by Content Television.
“We have global television broadcast deals on every continent. EFC is already shown in over 110 countries,” said EFC President Cairo Howarth. “EFC has signed and built up the best African MMA athletes to be household names and to be competitive on a global scale. Now we are excited to be pitting our current stars and champs against MMA stars from the rest of the world in true world championship bouts.”
“We get approached daily by great athletes from all over the globe applying to compete at EFC,” continued Howarth. “Due to the high-quality production and level of fights, the demand from TV networks from the US to Asia is constantly growing.”
Jonathan Ford, EVP Sales & Distribution at Content Television, international distributors of EFC programming, added, “The popularity of EFC content has grown at a phenomenal rate in the last five years, with strong demand from global broadcasters. Expanding its portfolio to include the best athletes from around the world will ensure that EFC continues to be the destination for the highest quality and most exciting MMA content in the international market.”
