French animation studio, Xilam has secured an agreement with The Walt Disney Company Limited to acquire its brand new animated series, Welcome to the Ronks across Disney Channel platforms in EMEA, Australia and New Zealand/ Australasia; South East Asia; South Korea; India; Hong Kong and Macau.
Currently in production at Xilam’s Paris-based animation studio, the 26 half-hours (52×13’) animated comedy aimed at Kids 6-11 is set in the pre-historic world, when the Neanderthals lived in harmony with nature and seemed quite happy with their very archaic lifestyle. Elsewhere in the galaxy though, evolution has been speeding along at 100,000 light years a second! In order to bring “earthlings” up to date, Flash, a refined and sophisticated alien is sent to the Ronk tribe in order to give humankind an atomic boost into the future! Unfortunately for him, Darwin’s forefathers aren’t quite ready for (r)evolution!
Produced by Marc du Pontavice, created by Olivier Jean-Marie (Oggy and the Cockroaches, Zig & Sharko), designed and directed by Charles Vaucelle (The Daltons, A Kind of Magic), this high-octane series, in keeping with the spirit of all of Xilam’s successful series, combines a powerful mix of madcap comedy, unexpected twists, non-stop energy and emotional charge.
Marc du Pontavice, founder and president of Xilam, said, “We are very delighted to be working closely with the unique expertise of Disney EMEA and we believe this cooperation will help make Disney Channel a great home for our wacky and endearing Ronks.”
Worldwide distribution rights are handled by Xilam.
