SCM launches in Malaysia

Hong Kong / Kuala Lumpur – FOX International Channels (FIC) announced that it has closed a deal with Malaysia’s fastest growing IPTV service, HyppTV, for carriage of SCM, FIC’s flagship Chinese movies channel. This marks the channel’s entry into Malaysia and joins a portfolio of top tier FIC channels already carried on HyppTV, including SCM Legend, STAR Chinese Channel, FOX Football Channel, FOX Crime HD, Nat Geo People HD, Channel [V] International, Channel [V] Taiwan and channel M. SCM will available as part of HyppTV’s Mega Pack, Ruby Pack and also on a la carte basis, channel 228.

SCM is currently already available in nearly 5.5 million homes around the world, including in Hong Kong, Taiwan,  Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA. Dubbed as the “Emperor of Chinese Movies” SCM is Asia’s leading destination for the best Chinese blockbuster movies from Hong Kong, Taiwan, China and Southeast Asia.  In time for the launch in Malaysia, some upcoming programming highlights this Fall include the box office hit Kick Ass Girls (爆3俏嬌娃), critically-acclaimed Singaporean film ILO ILO (爸媽不在家), the Golden Horse nominated Journey to the West: Conquering The Demons (西遊: 降魔篇), and original SCM co-production Filial Party (我是孝子), produced in collaboration with Clover Films as part of the channel’s ‘GO LOCAL’ initiative, which aims to support and nurture up-and-coming creative talent in the Chinese film industry.

Commenting on SCM’s entry into Malaysia and the partnership with HyppTV, Cora Yim, Senior Vice President of Chinese Entertainment and Territory Head of Hong Kong at FIC said, “We are pleased to be working with a great partner like HyppTV to bring fantastic blockbuster Chinese films to TV viewers in Malaysia. Demand for high quality Chinese content continues to grow worldwide and we see the same trend in Malaysia. HyppTV currently offers its customers a total of 124 channels with 41 channels in High Definition (HD), consisting of 57 premium channels, 21 free channels, 8 Radio Channels, 16 Video-On-Demand (VOD) channels and 22 interactive channels in variety of value packages and a la-carte options. HyppTV is powered by Telekom Malaysia’s high speed broadband service, UniFi and Streamyx 4Mbps and 8Mbps which are available to viewers come rain or shine through its residential and business UniFi and Streamyx packages. HyppTV customers can also enjoy the world class entertainment line-up on the move via HyppTV Everywhere. To date, HyppTV has close to 700,000 subscribers.
