History™ Asia to launch first original reality competition series

September 1, 2014 by TVA Editor

Singapore – On September 23, HISTORY™ and Canon will launch Photo Face-Off, an original reality competition series which sees amateur photographers go head to head with renowned and professional photographer, Justin Mott, in a series of photography challenges.

Five amateur photographers, one each from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam, will move on to the one hour finale to compete for the ultimate prize – two all-expenses paid trips, first to Japan for the Canon Photoclinic, where he or she will receive mentorship by a professional photographer; and next to New York City, where that training will be put to use as an official red carpet event photographer for some of the world’s biggest stars. Following two months of intense travels, filming concluded in Kenting, Taiwan, against the backdrop of the award-winning movie, Life of Pi.

Premiering September 23, every Tuesday at 10.30pm on HISTORY™ (StarHub TV Ch 401), Photo Face-Off will keep viewers at the edge of their seats as the photographers battle through three challenges – speed, theme and extreme.

“Photography is one of the most celebrated ways to capture history and we developed Photo Face-Off as an original series for HISTORY™ to showcase the unique cultures and diversity across these six countries in Asia,” said Michele Schofield, Senior Vice President, Programming & Marketing, A+E Networks Asia. “We injected the Canon PhotoMarathon concept into the series as our photographers’ skills and creativity are put to the test, completing each challenge under time pressure in a one day marathon.”

On partnering with Canon PhotoMarathon for Photo Face-Off, Charles Less, Head of Advertising Sales, A+E Networks Asia, commented, “We pride ourselves in offering our partners highly creative integrated solutions and it is our privilege to once again partner with a prominent brand like Canon.”

“We are thrilled to see our Canon PhotoMarathon concept brought to life on television with Photo Face-Off,” said Hideaki Nishimura, Senior Director & General Manager, Regional Imaging & Consumer Products Division, Canon Singapore Pte. Ltd. “At Canon, we believe anyone is capable of capturing his or her special moments in a beautiful manner and we hope to inspire more people in continuing to do so.”
