Globo struck a deal with telecommunications company TalkTalk in partnership with THEMA, to stream the channels Globo and PFC, which is specialised in Brazilian football, all through IPTV, in the United Kingdom. This is another initiative of the Brazilian company in order to expand its coverage in the region. Recently, Globo has also entered into partnership with carriers OTT GLWiz TV and Cloudio to expand its subscription options in other European countries.
Offered in a package called Brazilian TV Boost, the channels will cost £15 per month and can be purchased month to month, with no long term commitment, giving subscribers more flexibility and control over what they want to watch.
TalkTalk, a triple play network (broadband, telecommunications and pay TV) with more than one million TV subscribers in the United Kingdom, which offers programmes and television channels from all over the world, now provides its subscribers with Globo international channel. The channel broadcasts content 100% in Portuguese and brings Brazilian telenovelas and series, in addition to entertainment programmes, news, sports and children shows. Football channel PFC, linked with Globo, will also be available for subscribers. It brings the most important tournament matches such as Brazilian League Series A (“Brasileirão”), São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro Leagues, plus the complete coverage of the main matches of these competitions.
“We’re very happy about this partnership with TalkTalk. We know that there are a lot of Brazilians all over the UK and we’re delighted to bring Brazilian entertainment, sports and news into their daily lives”, said Raphael Corrêa Netto, Executive Director of International Business at Globo.
Henrik Karlberg at TalkTalk said, “We’re excited to be offering even more fantastic World channels to TalkTalk TV customers. Customers who miss the World Cup can tune into our Brazilian Boost, which offers the best of Brazilian football all year round, as well as hit entertainment shows and news 24/7. PFC and Globo are great additions to our flexible monthly boosts and allow customers to dip in and out of their favourite shows from home or afar.”
François Thiellet, CEO of THEMA said, “We are very glad to make Globo and PFC channels available in a country where international communities thrive. And there is no better partner than TalkTalk to reach our audience.”
Globo is working in partnership with THEMA to distribute the channels in the United Kingdom. THEMA aggregates foreign TV channels into TV packages targeted to diaspora communities. The company provides content, as well as legal, technical and marketing expertise. THEMA clients are major pay-TV platforms in Europe, Asia and North America.
