Tokyo – NHK World Internet service NHK World Online renewed its news page in English this July, aiming to deliver a more user-friendly service and much better viewing experience.
Currently, the news page in English has two sections: the “Latest News” and the
“NEWSLINE Features” (news reports featured in “NEWSLINE”, a 24-hour news programme). These sections will be integrated to streamline all news items, so that users can quickly find the contents they wish to view. The renewed site also supports easy access for smartphones and tablets.
NHK World Online has already launched a smartphone-friendly home page in 17 languages including Japanese.
Pages in English, including the top page, are now optimised for smartphones as well, along with the renewed news page. The access to NHK World Online has recorded 124.42 million PV during the fiscal year 2013.
NHK World Online not only delivers a variety of information on its website, but also provides live-streaming of NHK World TV and NHK World Radio Japan. Streamed news and other programmes are available in Japan as well. Users can download NHK World Apps (free of charge) to enjoy the programmes on smartphones and tablets.
