FIGHT SPORTS lands carriage deal with ONO in Spain

August 28, 2014 by TVA Editor

CSI Sports (Est. `97), the provider of televised fighting content, has signed a multi-year carriage deal for its new 24/7 HD Network FIGHT SPORTS with fibre optic network provider ONO, becoming Spain’s first TV channel dedicated to supporting the entire genre through exclusive live events and original programming.

The launch on Spain’s pay-TV operator continues FIGHT SPORTS Network’s rapid global expansion. Since launching in December 2012, CSI Sports has already secured multiple carriage deals for its FIGHT SPORTS Network with operators across Europe and the Asia Pacific region that will take the network into two dozen countries.

FIGHT SPORTS will launch on ONO with major live Championship events featuring title rematch between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Marcos Maidana on September 13 in Las Vegas and Heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko’s mandatory defence against Kubrat Pulev.

The programming line-up will also include the exclusively live HBO World Championship Boxing series, World Championship Kickboxing, Mixed Martial Arts and multiple Martial Arts tournaments from around the world. In addition, ONO viewers can enjoy past fights from some of history’s most exciting Championship Boxing events, with some of the greatest fighters such as Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, Oscar De La Hoya and George Foreman from an exclusive selection of events that have grossed over USD$1B in U.S. pay-per-view [PPV] revenue alone.

Craig Miele, Co-CEO, CSI Sports, said, “We are proud to announce the launch of FIGHT SPORTS on ONO and look forward to providing passionate fans across Spain with the biggest and best fights supported by exclusive original programing 24/7, all in one destination.”

In an official statement from ONO, the company said, “There is increasing interest in watching fight related sports in Spain and we are delighted to add FIGHT SPORTS to give our customers an even wider variety of sports viewing. With exclusive rights to HBO Championship Boxing and major upcoming events like the Klitschko and Mayweather World Championship fights, FIGHT SPORTS is the leader in this genre and we are pleased to be the first operator in Spain to carry the network.”

Richard Miele, Co-CEO, CSI Sports. “Our on-going programming investments in the most high profile live events and original programming continues to benefit the subscribers of our existing and new carriage partners, like ONO in Spain. We are very pleased to be part of the ONO group of channels and we look forward to building FIGHT SPORTS as the leading sports channel in Spain.”
