Sherman Oaks, California – It was announced on June 4 that ITV Studios U.S. Group has finalised a joint venture agreement with Marty Adelstein to launch Tomorrow ITV Studios. It will operate as a scripted studio with the support of ITV Studios U.S. Group.
“I’m thrilled that we’ll be partnering with Marty and his great team, including Becky Clements, to create innovative and exciting drama and comedy series,” said Paul Buccieri, Chairman ITV Studios U.S. Group and Global Entertainment. “Marty is a truly talented individual who has an impressive track-record and a wealth of experience. I can’t wait to see the portfolio of projects that will come out of Tomorrow ITV Studios.”
Tomorrow ITV Studios will develop, pitch and produce one-hour drama and comedy projects, which ITV Studios Global Entertainment will distribute. The studios’ first project to market is NBC’s recently announced straight-to-series Aquarius, starring two-time Golden Globe winner David Duchovny and written by John McNamara (In Plain Sight). Tomorrow ITV Studios will also operate globally with some projects in the pipeline that are co-productions abroad.
“While Tomorrow ITV Studios will produce pilots, the objective is to develop and package scripts with talent in a straight-to-series model as we’ve done with Aquarius,” said Adelstein. “I feel fortunate to have partnered with ITV Studios; they are amazingly supportive and innovative and they will be fully backing Tomorrow ITV Studios. With Aquarius they have shown themselves to be a hungry and serious player in this arena. I find this and the fact that we will be working globally very attractive and exciting.”
Adelstein, formally a founding partner of the Endeavor Talent Agency, was most recently in an overall deal with 20th Century Fox. His extensive television credits include Last Man Standing, Teen Wolf, Prison Break, Tru Calling and the upcoming ABC comedy Cristela, which premieres in September. Adelstein’s feature films include Hanna, Black Christmas and The Experiment.
Joining Adelstein as President at Tomorrow ITV Studios will be Becky Clements, who has worked with Adelstein the last four years and is an executive producer on Last Man Standing and Cristela. Prior to joining Adelstein, Clements was the executive vice president at Brillstein Entertainment Partners, where she was responsible for 50 pilots and several series including Just Shoot Me!, NewsRadio and Samantha Who?.
Aquarius is a gripping drama series set in 1967, starring Duchovny as a Los Angeles police sergeant with a complicated personal life who begins tracking a small-time criminal and budding cult leader suspected of seeking out vulnerable women to join his “cause.” The criminal he tracks is Charles Manson. Writer John McNamara (In Plain Sight) will executive produce with Duchovny, Adelstein (Prison Break), Becky Clements (Last Man Standing) and Melanie Greene (Californication).
Tomorrow ITV Studios will be headquartered in Los Angeles.
