Singapore – Scripps Networks Interactive, parent company of lifestylemedia networks Asian Food Channel, Food Network and Travel Channel in the Asia Pacific region, announced on May 15 the appointment of three media veterans to support its expansion in the area’s fast-growing emerging markets.
Angelica Santa Maria (Angie) will lead advertising sales, Carl Zuzarte will lead production and promotions, while Candice Chua will direct affiliate sales.
On the appointments, Derek Chang, managing director of Asia Pacific operations for Scripps Networks, said, “Angie, Carl and Candice are experienced media executives with deep industry knowledge and regional expertise. Their addition to the leadership team makes us well positioned to develop compelling original content and continue to forge deep relationships with our advertising and distribution partners.”
As head of advertising sales, Santa Maria will lead regional ad sales and develop an advertising strategy to capitalise on opportunities in the region.
Santa Maria joins the company from A+E Networks Asia Pacific, where she led the execution of the advertising sales strategy for the Philippines and Indonesia markets. She also held senior business development and sales roles at Discovery Networks. She has had extensive regional experience in television, print advertising and solutions sales.
As head of production and promotions, Zuzarte will oversee the development of production operations in the region, as Scripps Networks increases its commitment to offer compelling content relevant to audiences in Asia. He also will lead and execute the company’s on-air promotions strategy to maximise audience reach.
Prior to joining Scripps Networks, Zuzarte held the role of senior vice president of content at Fremantle Media Asia and managing director at Fremantle Indonesia. And previously he managed key client projects across Southeast Asia at Viacom Brand Solutions and MTV.
As senior director of affiliate sales, Chua will manage relationships with affiliate partners and be responsible for distribution of a three-channel portfolio in the region. Previously she spent more than 10 years in affiliate sales with SPE Networks – Asia and Discovery Networks.
The trio of executives will be based in Singapore. Santa Maria will report to Chang, while Zuzarte will report to CheeK, head of content, creative and marketing, and Chua will report to Tomas Petrzela, vice president of affiliate sales.
