Netflix won the Television award for Best International Programme with crime drama series Breaking Bad at the British Academy of Film and Television (BAFTA) in London on May 18.
The Sony Pictures Television programme was shown exclusively on Netflix in the UK. This year’s awards marked the first time web-based broadcasters were eligible to enter due to a change in the rules.
First-time nominee Sean Harris won Best Actor for his role in Southcliffe and detective drama Broadchurch won in three categories, claiming three BAFTAs for Best Drama Series, Best Supporting Actor and Best Actress with David Bradley and Olivia Colman winning Best Supporting Actor and Best Actress respectively.
The IT Crowd won in the comedy performance categories with Katherine Parkinson and Richard Ayoade winning the Best Female Performance in a Comedy Programme and Best Male Performance in a Comedy Programme awards.
