Shine International appoints Digital Business Development SVP

April 2, 2014 by TVA Editor

London – Shine International, the sales and distribution arm of Shine Group, announced on April 1 the appointment of Kerry Ball to the newly created position of SVP, Digital Business Development. In the new role Ball will lead the digital sales strategy globally and manage day-to-day sales of digital and home entertainment platforms for Shine International represented properties.

Starting in mid-April, Ball will be based in Shine International‘s London Headquarters, reporting to CEO, Nadine Nohr.

To date these responsibilities have been undertaken on a consultancy basis for Shine International by digital media and content expert Gordon Synn. Synn will complete a handover with Ball before completing his contract.

Ball joins from Stingray Digital, where as VP, Europe she headed sales and business development and the region’s office for the Canadian-based digital entertainment group.

Prior to this she spent eight years at NBC Universal, latterly serving as VP, International New Media responsible for the negotiation of a wide range of film and television properties’ rental or ownership on digital platforms including pay per view (PPV) video on demand (VOD), subscription video on demand (SVOD) rights, and Electronic Sell-Through (EST). Prior to this she oversaw the roll-out of EST internationally and worked with International Theatrical, Home Video and TV Distribution in her role as Director, Business Development and Strategic Planning for Universal Studios.

Nadine Nohr said: “Digital is a key area for ourselves and our industry. Gordon has helped us establish a strong foundation in this area and been a brilliant collaborator; we are very appreciative of all his insights and help, both to date and in ensuring a seamless transition. Kerry joins us with expertise drawn from both start up and studio roles. She will be a fantastic addition to the team.”

Kerry Ball said: “Shine has a strong, growing and award winning catalogue which provides a plethora of opportunities across the increasingly fragmented digital marketplace. I am excited about working with the talented team at Shine International and Shine Group companies to leverage the content and contribute to both digital and overall growth.”

Shine International VOD deals brokered by Synn include both series of The Hour with Amazon, substantial global multi-title agreements with Netflix and library deal with Hulu, plus a multi-hour output deal with Youku Tudou, in addition to developing the company’s business to consumer strategy and execution in this area.

Shine International distributes programming from Shine Group’s growing library of scripted and unscripted programming along with a broad array from independent producers to more than 240 territories worldwide.
