MIPTV: Shine International brings over 300 hours of factual programming

April 7, 2014 by TVA Editor

London – Shine International announced on April 5 that it will be bringing over 300 hours of new factual content to the MIPTV market bolstered by the broadest range of third party-represented content to date. High profile shows include exclusive access documentaries profiling will.i.am and Sir David Attenborough respectively.

On the Road with will.i.am is a dynamic, fast paced all-access musical road trip documenting the international artist’s first solo tour, offering an inside view to the incredible man behind the music. Brought to you by the director of Gaga by Gaultier and produced by Update Productions, the 1 x 60’ primetime special is enriched by ‘point of view’ filming and spectacular performance footage.

Sir David Attenborough: A Life on Earth tells the extraordinary story of the legendary natural-history presenter, film-maker and naturalist. Documenting his first-ever live tour, Sir David Attenborough is interviewed by 60 Minutes journalist and television presenter Ray Martin, in a spectacular theatrical setting, and takes audiences on an incredible journey through the storytelling of rare anecdotes from a truly fascinating life and career. The 1 x 60’ special is produced by Lateral Marketing and Management.

Also making its debut at the market is Reef Television’s French Collection where antiques enthusiasts compete to buy (at a French market), restore and subsequently upsell vintage collectables for the highest profit with the winner taking all profits. The 15 x 60’ series will debut on Channel 4, whose stand out factual hit of 2013, Educating Yorkshire (international title The School) is the subject of a master class with producers Two Four Productions. Staged by Shine International on the first day of the market the workshop will feature insights from Executive Producer David Clews and contributor and Deputy Headmaster, Mr Burton.

Georgia Brown, SVP of Acquisitions from Shine International commented: “We are delighted to bring to the market such a diverse range of factual programming from our third party partners. These are universally appealing stories, told through unique voices, some world famous, some doing their extraordinary yet everyday jobs, all of which will appeal to the curious mind.”
