London – Independent U.K. distributor Hat Trick International is set to launch Plum Pictures’ new entertainment series Win It Cook It as an international format at MIPTV in April. This will be indie producer Plum Pictures’ first move into format creation for the global market.
The U.K. version of Win It Cook It, presented by celebrity chef Simon Rimmer, has been commissioned by Channel 4 and will air later this year.

Stuart Cabb, Managing Director, Plum Pictures said, “It is fantastic to come up with a new format that mixes different genres to produce a truly unique food show. We take a quiz element and mix it in with some highly inventive cooking to end up with something which is great fun, revealing and uplifting. And having now made 30 episodes we know this format is very robust!”
Sarah Tong, Director of Sales at Hat Trick International, added, “We are very excited about the international prospects for Win It Cook It, which has all the hallmarks of a successful format as it works on so many levels. A hybrid of both a quiz and a cookery show and versatile in scheduling as it could work as a stand-alone in an access primetime slot or stripped across the week.”
Win It Cook It is the only food show on television where the contestants have to win their ingredients before they can cook with them. Two pairs of contestants answer questions to try and win the best ingredients while aiming to avoid some not so great ones. Then they must turn them into what they hope will be a prize-winning dish, as judged by a celebrity chef host and a different well-known guest judge each week. But the best ingredients don’t always guarantee victory. Can they use their initiative and imagination to turn Spam, Sauerkraut and salted popcorn into a dish fit to dine on? Or will the quality of the luxury ingredients win the judges over? The quickest thinking and most inventive chefs will walk away with the luxury prize.
Hat Trick International will also launch a line-up of brand new factual entertainment and factual series from Plum Pictures at MIPTV in April including Mary’s Silver Service (W/T), where retail guru Mary Portas helps senior citizens get back into work; Diamonds are Forever: Inside Asprey, featuring an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the jewellers to the Royal Family; Going Wild with the Joneses, which follows TV presenter Steve Jones and his family on an adventure to the Kalahari Desert and two additional brand new series of the international hit George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces.
