According to Reuters, the programme will be the first American show of its kind to arrive in China. Episodes of the talk show can now be accessed via China’s online video service Sohu Video 48 hours after its U.S. telecast.
While announcing the deal on her show, Ellen DeGeneres greeted viewers in Mandarin: “Ni hao! Ni hao. Ni hao, y’all.” The 55-year-old comedian mentioned that the show will remain the same, but with subtitles, and joked that it’ll be called “The Happy Lady Dance Hour”.
The Emmy award-winning programme is currently in its 11th season and garners 3 million to 4 million viewers. It is one of the most watched daytime talk shows in the U.S.
