Singapore – The stars of The Walking Dead Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus are in Singapore for the promotion of the fourth season’s part two premiere on FOX Movies Premium. They shared some behind-the-scenes experiences at the press conference on January 13, 2014
The concept of living amongst the dead has proven to be a successful formula for The Walking Dead. On what they think led the show to be such a huge hit, Reedus and Lincoln say that the series had to owe its four-season success to a good plot, character and storyline beyond just scary zombies and highly realistic special and visual effects. “It’s not just a zombie show. It’s about what it is being a human being. It needs to be about their story – the characters are important too,” says Lincoln.

“It takes you out of the modern world. You have all these characters whom are all infected (with the zombie virus), and their clock’s ticking. They’re fighting for what they want to fight for, and it shows you what kind of person they are. People resonate with those characters,” Reedus says.
The focus that British actor Lincoln had placed on his acting craft is evident in his attempt to get his accent right, and his desire to not get distracted while on set, which included minimal contact with press and family, and staying in his newly acquired dialect at all times. For the role, Lincoln had to adopt a southern accent to make the character believable. “When I was offered the role, I really wanted to get the accent right. I went to Atlanta early and worked with a dialect coach. I had to be focused,” he says. “I don’t believe in celebrating anything first before I’m done – you have to work for it first.”
Part two of The Walking Dead season 4 will debut on February 10, 2014 on FOX Movies Premium, immediately after its US premiere.
