London and Hong Kong – The Weather Company International Inc. announced that it has appointed Nick Morgan as its Director of Sales for the Asia Pacific region, demonstrating the company’s continued expansion internationally. Morgan will report to Chip Mobley, Vice President, International Business Division.
With over 20 years’ media experience in Asia, Nick Morgan has held senior positions with Dow Jones, the Associated Press and CNN, while more recently focusing on developing weather services for earthTV and Metra Weatherscape.
Chip Mobley, Vice President of The Weather Company’s International Business Division commented, “We’re delighted that Nick is joining us just as our international businesses are really taking off. His extensive experience across Asia is exactly what we need to deploy The Weather Company’s portfolio across the Asia Pacific and we look forward to providing broadcasters, media companies, government departments and commercial enterprises with an outstanding set of products and services.”
Nick Morgan added, “In Asia, we’re seeing an ever-accelerating awareness of the impact of weather – ask anyone who was in Singapore this June as Sumatran smog choked the city, or the inhabitants of Manila and Taipei recovering from last month’s floods. Across the continent there is a growing urgency to better understand, present and respond to weather phenomena. Into that mix comes The Weather Company – the industry’s gold standard; it’s the right company, the right time and the right place and I am delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to The Weather Company’s development in the Asia Pacific.”
Currently, The Weather Company provides weather information and data services to more than 700 broadcasters globally. In addition to its broadcast services, The Weather Channel also provides consumers with up-to-the minute weather information via its The Weather Channel app. Its Smart TV app is available on Samsung, LG and Orange Livebox Play while the mobile version can be accessed on iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry and more.
