Beverly Hills, California – Gene George, Executive Vice President at Starz Worldwide Distribution, announced that stars and creative talent from the upcoming STARZ original series Black Sails, from executive producer Michael Bay, will be coming to MIPCOM 2013. The talent from Black Sails will participate in the premiere screening for global content buyers on October 7.
The talents scheduled to appear include: Toby Stephens (Captain Flint), Hannah New (Eleanor Guthrie), Luke Arnold (John Silver), Zach McGowan (Captain Charles Vane), Clara Paget (Anne Bonny) and Jon Steinberg (Black Sails showrunner and executive producer).
Black Sails will debut in the U.S. exclusively on STARZ in January 2014. Starz retains all global distribution and home entertainment rights to the series, with global licensing and syndication through Starz Worldwide Distribution.
The eight-episode first season of the gritty pirate adventure centers on the tales of Captain Flint and his men, and takes place twenty years prior to Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic Treasure Island. Black Sails is executive produced by Michael Bay (Transformers, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor) and his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form (producers on The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) and Nightmare on Elm Street (2009)). The series was created by showrunner and executive producer Jon Steinberg (creator Jericho, Human Target) and co-executive producer Robert Levine (Touch).
