According to the Herald Sun, Australia’s Ten is getting back on the dance floor by reviving reality series So You Think You Can Dance in 2014.
Ten screened a local version of So You Think You Can Dance from 2008 to 2010. The talent show was hosted by Natalie Bassingthwaighte with judges Jason Coleman, Matt Lee and Bonnie Lythgoe. Bassingthwaighte is now contracted to Seven for The X Factor. Ten hasn’t announced whether any of the original judges will return for the new version. Ten currently screens the U.S. version of So You Think You Can Dance, hosted by Cat Deeley and with judges including co-creator Nigel Lythgoe, on its Eleven digital channel.
“The show is event TV at its best and great entertainment for the whole family,” Ten’s program chief Beverley McGarvey says. “Our aim is to showcase the great variety of dance in Australia and our country’s best dancers – and to give those dancers the chance to fulfil their dreams.”
In February 2008, the premiere of So You Think You Can Dance averaged a 1.83 million viewers across Australia’s five capital cities. By the end of S3 ratings had dropped to below one million viewers, according to the Herald Sun.
