Australia’s SBS announced that it has appointed Peter Andrews as Head of Network Programming. Andrews has 18 years’ experience in television programming with Australia’s major commercial broadcasters. Andrews replaces Jane Roscoe, who has relocated to the United Kingdom to take up the position of SBS Head of International Content. Andrews will be responsible for driving the programming strategies for SBS ONE and SBS 2.
Andrews was previously Network Programme Manager for Network TEN Australia in Sydney and then Melbourne. At TEN, Andrews was a key part of the team responsible for the acquisition and strategic direction of programmes including Big Brother, Offspring, Secret Life of Us, Masterchef Australia and Dexter.
SBS Director of Television & Online Content Tony Iffland said, “Peter brings extensive skills and expertise in programming to SBS and has built excellent relationships with the major studios at both a domestic and international level. He has a great passion for storytelling and is a perfect fit for SBS as we continue to build our reputation for content that provokes, inspires, surprises and delights our audiences across the platforms they are choosing to use.”
On his appointment Andrews said, “The chance to lead the SBS Programming team is a rare opportunity in broadcast television. I am so passionate about SBS’s vision and delighted to be joining a team committed to delivering its audiences meaningful and innovative programs informed by its unique Charter and purpose.”
