June 28, 2013 by TVA Editor

Singapore – Sony Pictures Television (SPT) Networks has ordered a second season of Hannibal. The second season will run for 13 episodes and launch next year.

In its debut season, Hannibal tripled Cable A 4+ viewers in India and drew 224 percent of the timeslot’s average ratings in 2012. In Singapore, the show delivered six times more Cable 4+ audiences and drew more than double the PMEB viewers in its timeslot. Hannibal was also a success in South Korea where ratings went up 181 percent on its timeslot in 2012. In the Philippines, average rating for its timeslot was 31 percent up from last year.

In addition, following for the AXN Asia Twitter account grew 11 percent on the back of the Hannibal promotional campaign. Hannibal has also enjoyed great buzz with over 202,000 YouTube views.

Confirming the re-commission, Marie Jacobson, EVP programming and production for SPT Networks, said: “Hannibal has had our viewers gripped in every corner of the world. Commissioning original, high-end, drama series such as Hannibal is pivotal to our commitment to creating event television that our audiences enjoy first in their territories.”

“Hannibal is a world class addition to AXN’s exciting line-up of new and returning programmes in the year ahead. We are looking forward to bringing back the tent pole series that has thrilled viewers, partners and clients across our region. In addition, we will continue offering the immersive viewing experience of the Hannibal second screen app that has been a breakthrough in engaging our audiences in Asia,” said Ricky Ow, EVP and general manager, networks, Asia, SPT.

Produced by Gaumont International, Hannibal is jointly commissioned by SPT Networks internationally and by NBC for the U.S.
