Monaco – It has been announced that eighty-one programmes will compete for a Golden Nymph as part of the Official Competition of the 53rd edition of The Festival de Television de Monte-Carlo this year. The Festival’s Vice-President Laurent Puons revealed the selection of programmes that will be in the running for the ultimate prize – a Golden Nymph Award.
From Asia Pacific, Japan received nominations in four categories, including Television Film and Mini Series. Australia’s Lowdown by High Wire Films was nominated for the Comedy TV Series category while New Zealand’s The Blue Rose received a nomination for the Drama TV Series category. In addition, South Korea and China each earned a nod in the News Documentaries category. South Korea was also nominated in the Prize of Prince Rainier III category alongside entries from Germany and Italy.
A selection of highly-rated shows are also competing in the TV Series category including Breaking Bad, Doctor Who, Downton Abbey, Bomb Girls, Capadocia, Homeland, as well as 30 Rock, Modern Family, and Fais Pas Ci Fais Pas Ça, which won at Monte-Carlo in 2009.
