The six award recipients are: Jan Mojto, CEO of Beta Film; Armando Nunez, President and Chief Executive Officer of CBS Global Distribution Group; Armando Nunez Sr., a renowned former executive at ITC/ PolyGram and 20th Century Fox; Masao Takiyama, Executive Officer, Senior Vice President, Television Networks, Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan (SPEJ); Nicolas de Tavernost, Chairman of the Board of the French Groupe M6; and Sophie Turner Laing, Managing Director, Content, BSkyB.
“We’re delighted to honour six great industry personalities, highly recognised in their respective countries and by the international community, who have through their talent, leadership and passion, played a significant role in the global television industry,” said Laurine Garaude, Director of Reed MIDEM’s Television Division.
Masao Takiyama, Executive Officer, SVP, Networks, Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan, one of the evening’s honorees, tells TV ASIA Plus it is a great privilege to be given the inaugural award.
“For the past 32 years, it has been an honour to participate in MIPTV and help introduce Japanese content, particularly Japanese animation, to the world. This important event has provided me the unique opportunity to build strong relationships with other industry leaders. These partnerships have led to co-produced animated programmes in Italy, France and the United States, and were instrumental in the 1998 launch of Animax, the first 24/7 channel dedicated to Japanese animation. Receiving the Medal of Honor is a great privilege, especially as we commemorate MIPTV’s 50th anniversary.
“Developing Animax as a comprehensive branded platform is a key priority, and we will continue to work closely with our Animax Asia partners to produce events like Animax Musix and Animax Carnival for fans across the region.”
