Turner International Asia Pacific has announced that Yew Ming Lau, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of the company’s business in North Asia, will resign from his position with effect from the end of June. After more than a decade working with Turner in Asia, Lau is to transition with his family back to Sydney. Lau’s position as SVP and MD of North Asia will be assumed by Phil Nelson, currently Turner’s Asia Pacific head of Business Development.
Commenting on Lau’s resignation, Steve Marcopoto, President and MD Turner International Asia Pacific, said, “Yew Ming has played a crucial role in the growth of Turner Asia Pacific over the last ten years. I speak for the entire organisation when I thank him for his tireless dedication and commitment to expanding our business across the region. We will miss him and wish him every success back home in Sydney.”
Lau joined Turner in Hong Kong in 2002, leading the development and implementation of Turner’s regional strategic and business development plans across all TV and digital platforms. He subsequently oversaw Turner’s business in Japan, South Korea and Greater China, including the company’s TV, digital, content production, syndication, licensing and merchandising activities for brands including the CNN news group, Cartoon Network, TABI, MONDOTV, QTV and CETV. From 1997 to 2002 he held various roles at Publishing and Broadcasting Limited (PBL) in Australia, including VP, Business Development, PBL Enterprises and COO/CFO at Acxiom Australia.
