Barcelona – Catalan producer/distributor Neptuno Films, and Singapore-based producer Character Farm Pte Ltd, have signed a deal that will see Neptuno Films handle global distribution (excluding China) of 3D series Katakune (260 x 2′).
Katakune, which features Katakune the silkworm, is an original, award-winning, educational, 3D-animated cartoon series created for children 2 to 5 years old. The series concentrates on values such as mutual respect, friendliness, understanding and forgiveness, as well as showing both the positive and negative sides of the insatiable curiosity that all kids have.
Managing Director of Neptuno Films, Cristina Brandner, said: “A lot of current TV programmes and video games are primarily concerned with being popular with children, but what those programmes really do is over-stimulate their young minds, which can lead to attention deficiency problems affecting their learning abilities in later years. Character Farm recognised this problem and that was why they produced Katakune, with the idea of training the child to focus naturally. As a result they have developed a style of animation and look that is both unique and that is designed to help kids learn the positive values that Katakune shows impart.”
“We are parents and we love kids. We want to give them good programming with great values and Katakune is our offering towards this cause,” said Aldric Chang, CEO, Character Farm.
