Discovery Kids in Asia has announced its latest original production titled KIDS VS FILM, premiering on June 1 across the region. This follows wildlife-based series ADVENTURE 8: ZOO GAMES, which premiered on March 16.
The 12-episode TV series, produced by Singapore’s Beach House Pictures, is in line with Discovery Channel’s First Time Filmmakers initiative. Following in the steps of Discovery Channel’s documentary-making traditions, each episode of KIDS VS FILM gives young budding documentary filmmakers from Asia and around the world exclusive access to exciting locations to shoot unique original mini-documentaries based on an assigned theme.
Kevin Dickie, Senior Vice President, Content Group, Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific, tells TV ASIA Plus that shows which are aspirational in nature like KIDS VS FILM, is a quality the network looks for in its programming. “It’s about giving kids the opportunity and in the same way that’s what the channel does. In this show, more than any other, it presents opportunities in the real sense but also opportunities in terms of what can be done in the future.”
The show allows participants to research, write, edit, direct, and shoot their own min-docs.
