BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY
Brad Dillon. What drives people to bring deadly animals into their homes? What dangerous mix of obsession, loneliness and desire causes them to live with animals that have the potential to kill? Despite the fearsome power and predatory instincts of the saltwater crocodile, there are some in Australia who keep them as pets. Francis Mauriks keeps two 10-foot “salties” in a shed in his backyard and Vicky Lowing shares her suburban home with three pet crocodiles, one of whom she takes for drives in the car and another that lives in the bath.

BEST DIRECTION
Kevin H.J. Lee. The “Bali Ai-Hsin Home for Persons with Disabilities” shelters young people with physical disabilities. Like hermit crabs crawling around in borrowed shells, they achieve their dreams of mobility with the aid of various implements and devices. Hampered by their physical disabilities and the disapproving looks of others, the “hermit crabs” are accustomed to bottling their feelings and desire inside. People come and go from the hermit crabs’ lives like the rising and falling of the tides. But they remain unfazed by the tumultuous changes. Their restless spirit, ability to alternately grumble and smile, and heartwarming faces opened up so many possibilities for looking at life.

BEST DRAMA SCREENPLAY
Jiang Tao. A person’s desire is like a bottomless pit. The temptation is from money, beauty, power, status, revenge and many other factors. In One Wrong Step, all the heroes struggled against their own temptations and may be swayed and make mistakes. What makes a difference is their justice, conscience, or just the little bit of moral bottomline. However, only this little difference is enough to change their lives.

BEST THEME SONG
Eliot Kennedy. Before any auditions took place, the Project Lotus musical director Eliot Kennedy put together a team of talented musicians and song writers, including Shazney Lewis (All-Saints) and Gary Barlow (Take That), who joined forces to write songs for the Pan-Asian group that would come out of the competition. Dance On would become the theme song for the series Project Lotus: The Search For Blush as the message of the song was one that ran closely with the competition, that of always keeping on dancing and singing. Dance On was released as a single by Blush in 2012 and made music history by reaching #1 on the U.S. Billboard Dance Charts.
