HBO’s Girls won two awards including Best Television Series – Comedy Or Musical.
Singapore – The winners of the 70th Annual Golden Globe® Awards were announced yesterday at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. Programmes that air on HBO Asia received five wins during the ceremony, the most of any broadcaster in Asia. FOX International Channels (FIC) Asia followed closely behind with three wins.
HBO’s Golden Globe® wins this year include three for Game Change (Best Mini-Series Or Motion Picture Made For Television; Julianne Moore for Best Performance By An Actress In A Mini-Series Or Motion Picture Made For Television; and Ed Harris for Best Performance By An Actor In A Supporting Role In A Series, Mini-Series Or Motion Picture Made For Television).
Comedy series Girls took home two awards for Best Television Series – Comedy Or Musical and Best Performance By An Actress In A Television Series – Comedy Or Musical (Lena Dunham).
Homeland, which airs on FIC’s FOX Movies Premium garnered three awards: Best Television Series – Drama; Best Performance By An Actress In A Television Series – Drama (Claire Danes); and Best Performance By An Actor In A Television Series – Drama (Damian Lewis).
Universal Networks International Asia saw one win for Downton Abbey: Season 2 by Maggie Smith for Best Performance By An Actress In A Supporting Role In A Series, Mini-Series Or Motion Picture Made For Television. Season 3 of the period drama series is now airing on DIVA Universal.
According to NBC in the U.S., this year’s Golden Globe® Awards scored its best ratings in six years, and saw an increase of 28% from last year’s show in the 18-49 demographic.
