Toronto, Canada – The first annual Asian Animation Summit (AAS) will present 36 new animated TV projects from producers in Australia, Malaysia, Korea and Singapore on December 10 and 11 at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The event is designed to stimulate co-production and co-financing by showcasing these early-stage concepts to an audience of potential co-producers, broadcasters, distributors and investors from Asia and also the international market.
The 36 projects that are part of the AAS programme have been carefully selected based on global-market potential and quality, and they fall into two distinct categories. Namely, partially financed and in development projects.
Partially financed projects are fully developed projects that have already raised at least 15% of their budgets, and are seeking further financing through broadcaster pre-sales and/or co-production, co-financing and distribution arrangements. They include: Circus Show – Studio Gale (Korea); Fantastic Forest – Chocolate Liberation Front (Australia); Herb & Ray’s Yum – Sticky Pictures (Australia); Oddbods – One Animation (Singapore); and PadaZamanDahulu (Once Upon a Time): Season 3 – Les Copaque Productions (Malaysia).
Those classified as in development are projects which are in development and have secured endorsement of an Asian-region broadcaster and are seeking co-producers and/or broadcaster and distributor support for further development and production funding. They include: Babyccino – mememe productions (Australia); Eeny, Meany, Manemo – Studio Moggozi (Korea); Little Kalari Warriors – Toonz Entertainment (Singapore); Totally Tentastic! – Story Me Studios (Malaysia); and Zoodiac – Scrawl Studios (Singapore).
Over the course of the two-day event, each project will be presented in a moderated live pitch and Q&A format with a chance to have follow-up meetings and casual networking built into the schedule.
