Singapore – Sony Pictures Television’s networks, Asia, has acquired the latest season of the BBC drama, Sherlock, for beTV.
The acquisition comes on the heels of the series’ season 2 finale which garnered strong viewership. According to Kantar Media, the finale, which had its run on August 6 on beTV, rated number one among English General Entertainment channels in Singapore in its time slot.
Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman will reprise their roles as Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson in Season 3, which will begin filming in early 2013.
A British contemporary update to Conan Doyle’s adventures of the great sleuth, Sherlock is based on three of the most famous Sherlock Holmes stories – A Scandal in Bohemia, The Hounds of Baskerville and The Final Problem. The series brings the detective duo from the 19th century to modern day London, with present day technology and forensic science complementing the amazing detective work.
Sherlock creator Steven Moffat teased that Rat, Wedding and Bow are all major clues for the next highly anticipated series.
