Los Angeles, California – MGM Television (MGM) announced it has partnered with Nigel Lythgoe, Executive Producer of American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance and Opening Act, to re-imagine FAME, the classic 1980s film and series that chronicled the lives of talented students paying their dues on the road to success.
Lythgoe will serve as Executive Producer on the project, along with Kary McHoul, president of Nigel Lythgoe Productions (NLP), Charles Segars, National Treasure creator and founder of Segars Media, and Chad Gutstein.
Produced under the new MGM TV group banner, FAME will strive to embody the spirit of the original film and series. Set in today’s unprecedented access to the world of celebrity, FAME will expose the gritty struggle, heartache and pain endured in the search for stardom and the often lofty price paid for success.
“This is a great opportunity for MGM to partner with world-class producer Nigel Lythgoe, whose unmatched experience with telling the true stories of talented people striving for success will set FAME apart, ” said Roma Khanna, President Television and Digital, MGM.
