Hong Kong – Celestial Pictures Limited (CPL) announced today that select titles from Celestial’s Shaw Brothers Film Library are now available on the iTunes Store in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and nine additional countries in Asia. This announcement marks the first time the films will be made available on the iTunes Store in these territories.
The first titles to debut from the Shaw Brothers multiple genres catalogue are Leslie Cheung’s Behind the Yellow Line, Gordon Liu’s The 36th Chamber of Shaolin and Stephen Chow’s Out of the Dark.
Gigi Ko, Director, Distribution, Celestial Pictures, said, “Fans of Shaw Brothers movies can now enjoy our movies on iTunes through a Mac or PC, iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. We also hope to attract a whole new group of fans by exposing them to these cinematic gems including some of the best Kung Fu movies ever.”
Known as the world’s largest Chinese film collection, Celestial’s Shaw Brothers Film Library consists of 760 films that have been remastered and preserved in digital format and are now available across multiple media formats for audiences to rediscover the golden age (1950s to the late 1990s) of Chinese cinema and some of the best martial arts movies in cinema history.
