In view of the upcoming Olympics, BBC World News will be presenting Faster, Higher, Stronger: Stories of the Olympic Games, looking into the history of the Olympic Games through the four-part series.
The first episode will feature the 100 metres, telling the story of a hundred years of sprinting revealing how the run has gotten faster over the years. This episode will premiere on June 30 with encores on July 1. The following week, episode two will illustrate the history of extraordinary gymnastic geniuses at the Olympics from the Melbourne Games of 1956 to the Beijing Games of 2008, exploring how gymnasts search for ever greater daring, danger, skill and beauty in their ambition to win Gold medals. This episode will premiere on July 7 with encores on July 8.
Next in line in episode three, the 1500 metres will showcase the compelling race that provided Great Britain with its finest hour on the athletics track, premiering on July 14 with encores on July 15. The fourth and final episode will paint the four strokes that came to dominate competitive swimming at the modern Games and allowed races to be won with faster and faster times. This episode featuring swimming will premiere on July 21 with encores on July 22.
All episodes will start showing at 1010hrs and 2310hrs on BBC World News with encores at 1710hrs the next day on the same channel.
