Monaco – Telemundo’s La Reina Del Sur and Venevision’s Eva Luna are among the top three nominees for the “Telenovelas/Soap Operas” category at the 7th Annual International Audience Awards, which will be presented at the 52nd Monte-Carlo Television Festival Awards Ceremony on June 14 at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.
The International TV Audience Awards, made possible through Eurodata TV Worldwide, rewards the programmes that gathered the highest number of viewers worldwide in 2011 across five continents in three categories: “Drama TV Series,” “Comedy TV Series,” and “Telenovelas/Soap Operas.” The nominees were pre-selected among the 15 best performing foreign fiction programmes in 65 countries, numbering almost 3 billion potential viewers.
Premiered on February 28, 2011, La Reina Del Sur, with a $10 million budget, was said to be the most expensive telenovela made by Telemundo, in association with Antenna 3 and RTI Producciones.
Eva Luna, produced by Venevision and Univision Studios, is a remake of Telemundo’s telenovela Aguamarina.
