Intelsat Global Holdings S.A., which established the first commercial global satellite communications system in 1965, has filed with U.S. regulators last week to raise up to $1.75 billion through an initial public offering (IPO) of its common stock. The company will change its name to Intelsat S.A. before listing in the New York Stock Exchange.
For more than 45 years, Intelsat has been delivering information and entertainment for many of the world’s leading media and network companies, multinational corporations, Internet service providers and governmental agencies. Intelsat was also the satellite company that transmitted the footage of the first landing on the moon.
